CREDIT HOURS FOR INSURANCE CE COURSES

Why are my insurance CE courses not being reported to my state’s Department of Insurance?

If required in your state, you must complete an affidavit as part of the final exam process.  If you are taking the final exam online, an affidavit will be available online.  You may either:

1. Complete the affidavit electronically.

2. Print the affidavit, complete and sign it, and fax to us at (619) 222-8593.

We report completion of courses every Wednesday to each state’s Department of Insurance.

Note:  IF YOUR STATE REQUIRES AN AFFIDAVIT AND YOU FAIL TO COMPLETE ONE ONLINE OR BY FAX, YOUR CREDIT HOURS WILL NOT BE REPORTED.

After I print out or receive my completion certificate, how do I renew my insurance license?

Relstone® Dollar CE Insurance School reports the completion of your credit hours to your state Department of Insurance each Wednesday.  We also pay any reporting fee required by your state — that reporting fee is included in your order at checkout.

If your State requires you to renew your insurance license, you must complete any required license paperwork for your state and pay any renewal fee to your state.  See your Department of Insurance website for more information.

After I print out or receive my completion certificate, how do I renew my CFP® certificate?

CFP®s:  be sure to complete your exam at least 15 days before your renewal date.  We report your date of completion each Wednesday to the CFP® Board; however, the CFP® Board may take up to 7-10 business days to post the credits to your record.  So even if you complete your course(s) “on time” before your CE due date, you will be considered late if your credits are posted after your deadline.

We recommend you go to the CFP® Board website at www.cfp.net and SELF Report the course credits.  Since our courses are registered with the CFP® Board, you should not have to pay the $20 Course Evaluation Fee.

  • Make sure to file the courses under our sponsor name, and list us exactly as “Cal-State Exams, Inc.”  — make sure to include the hyphen, the comma and the period at the end of our sponsor name; note that the CFP® Board website is character sensitive, so be sure to capitalize the C, S, E and I.

Note:  if you wish to use your insurance CE course(s) to renew a CFP® certificate AND any other insurance licenses, we can issue multiple completion certificates and report your completion to your state Department of Insurance and the CFP® Board (if applicable).  Additional certificate and reporting fees are:

Second Certificate and Reporting:

$40 one course or $50 for 2 or more courses

Third Certificate and Reporting:

$40 one course or $50 for 2 or more courses

Note:  for CPA credit, the student must report completion of insurance credit hours.

If I’m using insurance CE for CPA continuing education hours, does Relstone® report these credit hours?

For CPAs, it is up to the student to report completion of insurance credit hours.

Can I use the same course to renew more than one license, such as insurance, CFP®, and CPA?

In many states, you may use the same insurance CE course to renew more than one type of license.  The following “double duty” and “triple duty” options may be available in your state:

1. Insurance license renewal and CFP® certificate renewal

2. Insurance license renewal and CPA renewal

3. CFP® certificate renewal and CPA renewal

4. Insurance license renewal, CFP® certificate renewal, and CPA renewal

If you wish to use your insurance CE course(s) to renew more than one license/certificate, we can issue multiple completion certificates and report your completion to your state Department of Insurance and the CFP Board (if applicable).  Additional certificate and reporting fees are:

Second Certificate and Reporting:

$40 one course or $50 for 2 or more courses

Third Certificate:

$40 one course or $50 for 2 or more courses

Note:  for CPA renewals, it is up to the student to report completion of insurance credit hours.
